We took the bus to catch the train into Florence. We had an appointment at the Uffizi Gallery. Of course, no photos allowed in the Uffizi. There was amazing master piece works in the gallery and I really enjoyed it.
Piazza della Repubblica
Fake statue of David in front of the Palazzo Vecchio (the "old palace.") This was the Medici family's old palace. The real David statue used to sit out here until a few hundred years ago. The story is that there was a riot and someone threw out something from the window, hit and broke off the David's hand. When it happened, everyone was shocked and walked away. The real David statue is now at the Accademia. We will go to see it next week.

This is inside the Palazzo Vecchio. The middle is an orange tree.
This is the Duomo.
Looking up at the dome.
This is an interesting view. It signifies the tension between Church (left tower) and State (right tower).
This is in front of the Santa Croce Church. This is where the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, and other famous Florentines.

I broke off on my own and walked all over the place and saw everything on the east and south east of the city of Florence today. Next time, when we come in, we will be going to the Accademia and I will explore the northern part of town. My legs were tired but I had a lot of fun.
