Roaming Rome!

Today we walked and walked and walked…..for about 8 hours! We got lost a few times and found our way by following herds groups of school children. We started our day in the Ancient Rome Neighborhood. We climbed Palatine Hill, explored the Roman Forum (unknowingly), and the Colosseum. We had lunch and went to find the Roman Forum (because we didn’t know we’d already explored it) and got really frustrated because we couldn’t find the way to get in. When we finally found "the" entrance and validated our ticket, we realized that we’ve already been there. Duh. We are so special!

Then we made our way from the Forum to Capital Hill, took pictures at the Victor Emmanuel Monument and walked over to the Spanish steps. Then we had some gelato by the Trevi Fountian and walked on over to the Pantheon (this is when we started to follow the school children.) We explored the Pantheon neighborhood, then we walked up to the Piazza Del Popolo.

I thought the light/shadow that's casted in the Pantheon looks like an alien or upside-down angry bird!

By early evening, we walked over to catch a bus to the Trastevere neighborhood to have dinner. Marco had recommended us to go to this neighborhood for a “not so touristy bad/overpriced dinner.” The neighborhood was charming and the choices for food were endless. By far this was my favorite neighborhood. We ended up eating outside at a little restaurant. Halfway through our meal, there were musicians playing music (accordion, guitar, and bass) and we finally felt like we were in Italy.

Then we're back to our little room at the Bed and Breakfast.
It was a really fun and full day. I uploaded the rest of the pictures from today onto Facebook already! Now time to rest up and get ready for tomorrow’s adventure.
