Greetings from Bangkok. It's been a little over a day since we landed and we are wide awake at 4 a.m. Bangkok time. It's been a little under 2 years since our last visit but things haven't changed all that much. We're happy to have amazing street food and lots of time visiting with family and friends. It feels like home. On the ride home from the airport, my dad informed us that we will be the speakers for the youth event on Saturday night. With very little time to prepare and my very rusty Thai, we were able to share about what it means for us to love God and love people. We spoke of our community at NAPC and the mission of God of which we are a part in that community. We gave testimony to the love of Jesus that is shone through the people in our small group especially when Brian injured his knee earlier this year. We praise God for a sweet time of worship and sharing with the youth and young adults in the church here.
Today (Sunday) is my dad's birthday! Tomorrow is also my parent's anniversary (I think it's their 35th but I'm not completely sure....) It's nice to be able to celebrate these special family occasions together. Last year we got to celebrate my mom's birthday with her with a day trip to Kanjanaburi and this year we get to do my dad's birthday with the church here. My mom also planned a day trip for all of us to Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden on Monday.
The down side of things feeling more like home is the lack of picture-taking. Yesterday as we went out for lunch, there were some amazing photo ops of the busy Thai streets full of bustling street food, but we didn't even think to take the camera because it was just going out to lunch. We will try to do better and have photos coming soon.
We are really enjoying our time here in Bangkok even though we do miss our fur-babies back in Atlanta. We are so grateful to amazing friends and family members who are willing to take care of the beast(s). This trip would not be possible with their generosity in agreeing to take care of Jack and Ninja. To them, a big THANK YOU!
I'll try my best to keep the blog updated while we're here. Next post will probably be after our trip to the botanical garden tomorrow. Until then, God's blessings to you all!
